Inverness ice skaters receive over £3000 from the National Lottery

Inverness Skating and Ice Dance Club have received £3273 from The National Lottery Community Fund in partnership with sportscotland.

They were one of five groups from the city which received over £27,00 worth of grants.

Inverness Skating and Ice Dance Club secretary Sarah Mackintosh, said: “We were over the moon to discover the application was granted.

"The pandemic has been extremely difficult for small clubs and trying to keep things going while keeping all our skaters, volunteers and parents safe has given us some very unique challenges.

“The funding we have received will allow us to continue to safely welcome existing and new members at an affordable cost while we are under the current restrictions."

Other sports clubs which received funding included

Inverness Shinty Club (£6720), Inverness Highlanders Junior Ice Hockey Club (£6786), Inverness Tennis & Squash Club (£6000) and Merkinch Football Academy (£4000).
