Inverness Harriers put up banner showing support for Megan Keith as Team GB Olympic Games teammate Eilish McColgan praises 22-year-old
Inverness Harriers have installed a banner to show support for life member Megan Keith’s debut at the Olympic Games.
The 22-year-old will represent Team GB in Paris over the 10,000 metres on Friday, August 9, competing against the best distance athletes in the world.
Keith is one of two British athletes to have qualified for the final, joining fellow Scot Eilish McColgan in a 26-strong field.
After winning bronze at the European Championships last month, Keith will be optimistic over her chances of a strong showing at the Olympics, and her teammate has backed her to show she belongs alongside the world’s best.
“She’s such a really nice girl, she’s improved so much over the last couple of seasons,” McColgan told SportsBoom.
“She’s had such a big breakthrough last year and this year, it’s incredible to see her competing the way she has been.”
“It will be great to have her alongside me in Paris. It’s funny really, she’s making her Olympic debut at pretty much the same age as I did.”
“There’s parallels there in our careers, it’s been pretty cool to watch.”
The Harriers will also be holding a watch party at Fairways for club members and their families to support Keith during the race.
