Inverness dentist becomes fastest woman ever over 40-mile course at Cancer Research UK Etape Caledonia in Pitlochry - Also success for other Inverness cyclist who takes fastest man title
INVERNESS cyclist Alanna Cameron made history when she recorded the fastest time ever by a woman at a major cycling event.
The dentist set a new course record on the 40-mile route at the Cancer Research UK Etape Caledonia event which took place in Pitlochry.
She claimed the fastest woman title in a time of two hours 19 minutes and 16 seconds.
She beat the previous record which was held by Louisa Brown by five seconds to become the fastest woman ever over the 40-mile route at the event.
There was also success for Inverness cyclist Ben Gordon who claimed the fastest man title over the 85-mile route when he completed the course in a time of 3:37:38.
Thousands of cyclists took part in the event which was celebrating its 19th anniversary.
Inverness hosted Etape Loch Ness last month when two records were also broken at the event.
Alan Dean became the fastest man in the history of Etape Loch Ness as he set a new course record.
Inverness cyclist Martha Gates was crowned the fastest woman at Etape Loch Ness for the first time in her career as she set a new women’s record.
