Inverness Tang Soo Do win 45 medals at Scottish Championships – as well as seeing Blythe Gajda become grand champion for second year in-a-row





Inverness Tang Soo Do took home a spectacular 45 medals – and a grand champion – from the Scottish Championships in Elgin last weekend.

Across a range of belts and disciplines, 11 Inverness athletes did their club, with every single one of the club’s representatives winning at least two medals.

Star of the show, though, was Blythe Gajda, who in the Cho Dan Bo category won the sparring, open weapons and forms competitions.

On top of those triumphs, Gajda also earned a silver medal in bo staff and knife and came third in team forms to be crowned the coloured belt grand champion for the second year in-a-row.

Among the black belts, Ailish Boyd won the sparring competition, also coming third in forms, bo staff and sword.

Forbes Gajda won a number of silver medals in sparring, forms, bo staff, sword and knife, as well as a bronze in open weapons.

Laura Stewart performed similarly, finishing second in forms, bo staff and sword, while finishing third in sparring, knife and open weapons.

All three black belts also won silver in team forms.

In the group of red belts, Lily Fraser won the bo staff and open weapons competitions while coming second in forms and third in team forms.

Layla Urquhart, meanwhile, won in forms and bo staff as well as finishing third in open weapons and team forms.

Arwen Boyd also picked up a couple of medals – silver in team forms and bronze in forms.

Inverness Tang Soo Do only had one athlete entered into the brown and green belt categories, with Lewis Fraser winning forms and taking silver in bo staff, sparring and team forms in the former.

Tilly Munro won silver in bo staff and sparring, as well as bronze in forms, in the latter.

Two more golds were won by orange belts, with Aleena Khoyratty winning in forms and Arran Polson winning in bo staff. Those two would also win a bronze medal apiece, in bo staff and sparring respectively.

In total, that meant the Inverness club won 11 gold medals, 20 silver medals, 14 bronze medals and was home to the coloured belt grand champion.
