Inverness Caledonian Thistle Women manager Karen Mason hopes that the changes to the women’s football calendar will mitigate any call-offs over the season.

A trip to Dunfermline this Sunday has been postponed after Scottish Women’s Football paused proceedings in the Championship North and Championship South.

That decision will be reviewed on a weekly basis, so it is possible that matches will resume as soon as next weekend, and Mason says there was time built in to the schedule to account for potential delays.

“The League Cup and the Scottish Cup have been taken out and pushed back to the end of the year in May, so there are certain dates that are available,” Mason said.

“I think there are three or four throughout the season that can be used to accommodate delays.

“We have to be done by a date in June next year, but there is a bit of flexibility built in just in case lockdowns do occur.

“Hopefully we don’t need too many of them, but I can imagine that at least a couple are going to be used.”

There could well be knock-on effects for ICT Women though, who do not have a permanent home this season.

Their first two home games this season were played at Canal Park, and they will return there before the end of 2020 as well as having one game at the Caledonian Stadium.

If more matches get postponed though, that could wreak havoc with pitch availability.

“We’re just going to have to wait until nearer the time to see what’s going on there,” Mason added.
