Austin Junior Nikwonta and Destiny Ojo were two trialists who played for Inverness who featured in the 1-1 draw against Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile four trialists featured for Inverness in their 4-0 defeat against Forres Mechanics at Mosset Park.

Mckay said both Nikwonta and Ojo both gave a good account of themselves in the friendlies against Clachnacuddin and Nairn.

However, he says no decision has been made on whether to offer them permanent contracts to join the club for the League One campaign.

He said: “Junior has had three games and we will sit down with him on Monday. Destiny is with us a bit longer.

“We need to sit down as a coaching staff as the squad is getting bigger now and there is limited spaces.

“Nothing has been decided on that. But they made a good account of themselves and there was good performances from them.”

He added: “We learned from last season that the tough side was the depth, we want younger lads to be pushing on. To have two or three experienced lads to have had on the bench could have helped last season.”

Inverness played a heavily more experienced team against Clachnacuddin while a youthful team took on Forres Mechanics at Mosset Park.

McKay, who took charge of the Inverness team at Clachnacuddin is pleased with how pre-season is progressing so far.

He said: “We wanted to go with a bit more experience at Clachnacuddin and look to build more relationships on the pitch.

“We started really well and managed to get in behind them but the final ball let us down.

We had a good chance to win it as well, but Clachnacuddin are a good Highland League team that have some very good pexxperienced players and gave us a tough game.

“It was a good exercise for the boys. There is a lot to improve on too.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle continue their pre-season campaign against Partick Thistle at Petershill Park in Glasgow on Tuesday night.
