Caley Thistle started their pre-season with a comfortable victory over Elgin City at the Caledonian Stadium.

Before kick-off, Inverness unveiled their new signing from Celtic Adam Brooks, with the Scotland under-19 international agreeing a two-year deal to join the Championship outfit.

The hosts took the lead after just five minutes when a misplaced header from Elgin player/manager Ross Draper was pounced upon by Aaron Doran.

The Irishman chipped goalkeeper Daniel Hoban from 20-yards out to put Inverness into the lead.

But Elgin drew level six minutes later when the ball eventually fell to Brian Cameron from a corner kick.

He fired a low drive from 12 yards into the bottom right corner.

Inverness went back in front in the 16th minute as great play between Jake Davidson and Robbie Thompson saw them tear through the centre defence.

Thompson then set up Samuels to fire home from 12 yards out.

Inverness got their third when Samuels found himself unchallenged as he connected with a cross from the left wing and fired home from eight yards out.

Billy Mckay then found the net midway through the second half when he was unchallenged to prod home a cross from the right wing from Nathan Shaw.
