Inverness Caledonian Thistle put in a workmanlike performance to record their second win of their pre-season campaign with victory against Nairn County.

The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Luis Longstaff surged down the right wing and laid off the ball for Keith Bray. He crossed the ball into the box to find Billy Mckay who volleyed his shot into the net from 12-yards.

Inverness doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when Mckay pounced on a loose ball before releasing Bray down the wing. His cross into the box found an unchallenged Robbie Thompson who found the net from six-yards.

Bray continued to cause problems in the Nairn defence at the beginning of the second half with goalkeeper Lewis Munro forced to come off his line and pull off a good save to deny the striker finding the net.

Munro did well to deny a low driven Luis Longstaff free-kick finding the net as he parried the ball away from danger.

Adam Brooks went close to making it three midway through the second half when he beat the offside trap, but his shot went wide of the post.

Nairn County pulled one back with 15 minutes remaining when Matthew Wright pounced on a loose ball in the Inverness defence and fired past Szymon Rebilas.

But Inverness restored their two-goal advantage a minute later when Calum Mackay guided a cross from the right wing into the net with a diving header.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle continue their preparations for the new season with a friendly against Raith Rovers on Saturday with kick-off at 2pm.
