Scorer: Bavidge (90)
Inverness Caledonian Thistle have moved out of the relegation zone in League One as Alfie Bavidge scored a late winner at bottom of the table Dumbarton.
Annan Athletic lost at home 2-0 to Stenhousemuir which allowed Caley Thistle to leapfrog them into eighth place on 29 points and two points ahead of Annan on 27.
When Inverness went into administration, they dropped to the bottom of the table and were 12 points adrift of the rest of the division. After former manager Duncan Ferguson was made redundant, Scott Kellacher was appointed as head coach.
He has guided Inverness to pick up 32 points, with 10 wins, two draws and five defeats from his 17 matches in charge.
Inverness created a number of chances in the first half to take the lead at Dumbarton.
Within the opening minute, the ball broke to Adam Mackinnon in the box, but he fired his shot high and wide.
Mackinnon also came close just before the half hour mark when his shot forced a save from Milosz Sliwinski as both teams went into the break goalless.
Dumbarton had a great chance at the start of the second half when Craig McGuffie saw his shot clatter off the post.
Inverness responded with James Nolan putting through Billy Mckay in the box but his effort was well saved by Sliwinski.
The visitors had to withstand some pressure from the hosts in the second half with Dumbarton going close as Carlo Pignatiello drilled a low ball across goal that an unchallenged Finlay Gray was inches away from getting on the end of.
Caley Thistle goalkeeper Musa Dibaga then pulled off an important save when he had to be at full stretch to deny Michael Ruth’s volley from finding the net.
McKay came close to giving Inverness the lead when his volley from a Bavidge cross fired wide of the left post. But the deadlock was broken in injury time as Bavidge, on loan from Aberdeen, scored a late winner to send Inverness out of the bottom two.
Inverness have nine games left in the regular season and are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Stenhousemuir at the Caledonian Stadium.
