The Highland Martial Arts Centre (HMAC) duo both came out on top at the World Kickboxing Association Scottish Championships at Ravenscraig.

Aidan (12) became a two-time Scottish champion and Ciaran (9) became a three-time Scottish champion which lead to them being selected for the world championships in Serbia in August.

Aidan won two golds competing in light contact young cadets under-42kg and points young cadets under-47kg and one silver medal in points young cadets under-42kg.

Ciaran got gold in light contact children’s under-30kg and points children’s under-33kg.

He got bronze fighting up in age in the young cadets under-32kg category. They will now compete for Great Britain in Serbia.

Their mother Diane Lennan said the boys’ dedication paid off.

She believes that they are ready to take on the best in the world and prove they are the top kickboxers in the age group.

Winning these competitions means they can now qualify to be part of the WAKO GB team.

“It is the highest accolade in the UK for their sport and now they can go to the WAKO Junior World Championships in Serbia,” she said.

“We are so proud of the boys and what they are achieving.

“Their dedication to the sport and their training is inspiring.”

It is a great start to 2020 for the brothers after what has been a year of change in the sporting careers.

The duo, along with Effie MacLennan, moved clubs at the end of 2019 to HMAC Highland Martial Arts Centre with coach Mitchell Flett.

Along with training in Inverness, they are also training with Edinburgh international team Wolfpack Martial Arts.
