Inverness Athletic won their first game of the season.

Manager Jason Golabek confirmed they will no longer play their home matches at Cromal Park at Ardersier after the club originally moved there at the start of the season.

Instead, Athletic are now playing home matches at Inverness Royal Academy and for the first time tomorrow, on the football pitch at Fort George which is used by Championship club Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Golabek says the club are impressed by the standard of the venue and are looking forward to playing on it.

“We are not using Ardersier any more and moved back to Inverness Royal Academy,” he said.

“But our chairman Sandy Stephen was in contact with Caley Thistle and they offered us to use the pitch at Fort George at the weekend and we have taken the opportunity to use it.

“Hopefully we can have a good game of football on it as it is an elite pitch.

“We will look to play some good football and get a good result on Saturday.”

Inverness Athletic remain four points adrift at the bottom of the table after losing 2–1 to Invergordon last week.

Despite their poor season, Athletic are undefeated against champions Golspie Sutherland this campaign.

They drew 4–4 at Golspie on the opening day of the season and then knocked them out of the North Caledonian Cup on penalties.

Golabek says Golspie are an improved team from when they faced them previously, but will take heart from their good record against them.

“Golspie have strengthened since the start of the season and they got a great win over Loch Ness last weekend,” he said.

“We are expecting a tough test from Golspie on Saturday that is for sure.”
