Inverness Athletic manager Jason Golabek says he is expecting his team to win their first game of the North Caledonian League campaign when they travel to Scourie tomorrow.

The manager blasted his team last week after they suffered a 3–1 defeat to Nairn County A at Pavilion Park in Muir of Ord.

He is looking for Athletic to make amends and grab their first points of the Division Two campaign.

“I hope that it is a better trip home than it was last week,” he said.

“We have got a long away trip on the bus, there will be social distancing but the banter will be good and we will have the music on. Hopefully at 4pm we will in a better mood. We are definitely looking to win this game.”

Scourie had a nightmare start to the campaign after they were thrashed 11-1 by Loch Ness.

But Golabek says he is not taking anything for granted and expects a tough time when they head to North-West Sutherland.

“Scourie had a tough start to the season coming up against Loch Ness last week,” he said.

“Loch Ness have been around a long time and have good players.

“They are a new team and it will take a season or two for them to find a balance, but this is a tough game for us. We have to go up there focussed and ready.”

Scourie manger Tony Reynoldson says losing 11–1 to Loch Ness at Canal Park was a hard result to take for his team.

He says they did not believe they would lose as heavily as they did.

But he says they are determined to learn from their mistakes and look to record a famous victory in their first North Caledonian League game at Achlochan Park.

“We made mistakes which our players don’t normally make,” he said.

“But I think the match against Inverness Athletic on Saturday will be a much tighter game and we will have more players available.

“Winning our first game at home will be a factor for us.

“We will be determined to sort ourselves out from last week for the match. We will discuss in training how to improve and solve the problems experienced from last Saturday at Loch Ness.”
