Inverness athlete Megan Keith says she is proud to be an Olympian after competing in 10,000 metres final at the Olympic Games.
Megan Keith says she is proud to have competed at the Olympic Games as she ran in the 10,000 metres tonight.
The 22-year-old, who is the first Inverness Harriers athlete to ever run at the Olympics, finished in 23rd place in a time of 33:19.92.
It was later found out that Keith had been carrying an ankle injury in the lead up to the final.
Speaking after the final, she says it was the hardest race she has ever experienced and proud to have qualified for the Olympic Games.
She said after the race: “That was the hardest 25 laps ever. I was very happy to finish tonight.
“I was happy to make the start line and even happier to make the finish line.
“Even though I came last, I’m proud to be here as an Olympian.”
Beatrice Chebet of Kenya won the gold mdeal in a time of 30:43.25.
European champion Nadia Battocletti of Italy took silver in 30:43.35 with Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands third in 30:44.12.
