Innes Bar Darts Festival is on target for success

The Innes Bar Darts Festival started with the 44th staging of the Dewars Doubles.

Sandy Morrison and George Main successfully defended their title to win the doubles event for the third year in-a-row.

The Innes Bar C pair defended their trophy defeating Tarradale duo David Fraser and Gordy Matheson in the final.

It was also a fourth title for Main who previously won the trophy with Steve Mitchell.

The semi-finalists were Jim MacNeil and Stuart Pearce from Innes Spikeys and Lewis Mackenzie and Stuart Murray from Portland A.

During the event maximum 180’s went to Main and MacNeil with checkouts of 123 and 107 to David Fraser and Jim Newlands respectively.

Sandy Morrison, George Smith and Nigel Goulding lifted the Norland Distributors Triples title.

They defeated Gordy Redmond, Simon Gow and Ken Addie in the final.

In the Merkinch Singles, Elgin’s Craig Quinn defeated Ally Ross 5-0 in the final.

The champion fired in three maximums on his way to winning the title.

Losing semi-finalists were David Fraser from Tarradale and Innes Bar C player Sandy Morrison, while the last eight was made up by George Main, Don Maclean Jr, Davy Grant and Gordy Redmond.

The Merkinch ladies title went to Courtney McBain who defeated last year’s champion Jacqui Hill 3-0.

The losing semi-finalists were Mandy Anderson and Sarah Stephen.

In the Consolation Singles open to first-round losers in the main event, Portland A player James Fraser defeated Nigel Goulding from Innes Bar C 2-0.

Former Scotland international player Robert Mackenzie teamed up with Sandy Morrison to defeat brothers Wayne and Mark Ridgers 3-0 in the Mike Sutherland Shield final.
