MIDFIELDER Sean McAllister’s season is feared to be over as it is likely he will miss Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s Championship play-off final clash against Hamilton Academical.

The on-loan Everton player collapsed at the start of the second half in the 1-0 win over Montrose at the Caledonian Stadium.

He had to be taken off after it is thought he had suffered a recurrence of a thigh injury which he suffered earlier in the campaign.

After suffering a thigh injury in early March, the Northern Irishman returned to his parent club Everton for rehabilitation.

But he returned to Inverness last month in the 1-0 defeat against Raith Rovers at the Caledonian Stadium.

Manager Duncan Ferguson says while it is yet to be confirmed, he believes McAllister has suffered another thigh injury and his season is likely to be over.

Ferguson said: “It’s bad, it looks like the same injury, I have been in the game long enough to know.

“Unfortunately for the kid it is the same injury.”

Inverness Caledonian Thistle reached the Championship play-off final after defeating Montrose 1-0 yesterday with Billy Mckay scoring the winner.

Inverness now face Hamilton Academical in the final, with the first leg on Wednesday night at New Douglas Park and the second leg at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.

Hamilton Academical reached the final after defeating Alloa Athletic 5-4 on aggregate, winning the second leg 3-2 yesterday.

Ferguson says Inverness will need to be at their best to win the play-off final and stay in the division.

He said: “It looks like they’ve had a tough couple of games with Alloa, who got a man sent off as well.
“Hamilton were the second best team in that division and they deserve to be there.
“It’s going to be tough - there are no easy games.”
