John Newsom fears that injury may deny him the opportunity of wrapping up the men’s North Cross Country League title at the earliest possible stage at tomorrow’s fourth meeting at Peterhead.
With four of the six races to count and Newsom on 298 points out of 300 so far, all the Inverness runner needs is a top three finish in any of the three remaining races. However, the North District champion looks likely to have to wait beyond tomorrow.
“It’s unfortunately not looking very likely as I’ve got a sore shin,” he said.
“I picked it up a week or so ago and I’ve been nursing it along, but it was too sore on Wednesday for doing anything so it’s not looking very good.
“But in terms of our men’s team, I think Donnie MacDonald and Graham Bee are planning it.”
