Head coach Billy Dodds has no intention of letting Inverness Caley Thistle's star players leave club before summer transfer window closes

Billy Dodds says he intends to keep his current Caley Thistle squad together past the current transfer window.

Less than three weeks remain for business to be done before the window shuts, but Inverness have seen interest in their players from other clubs before.

Most notably Robbie Deas was the subject of a bid from St Johnstone at the start of 2022, but Dodds has no intention of letting his best players go – whether Deas or anyone else – this summer.

"Teams are always enquiring, but there's nothing concrete," he revealed.

"Deas has been one of the ones they've been asking about. That's the way it is.

"That's what you want, because if they're playing well and other clubs are looking at them, in general you're doing well as a team.

"I've said before that I'm happy with the squad I've got. Everything fell into place, the targets I went for came off.

"The one thing I don't want now after getting them all together and used to the way we work is to get interest in someone and have to try and replace them late.

"I don't want that. I don't think that will happen, I don't want it to happen, and I want to keep our best players because we want to try and get out of this league – that's the main aim at this club."

Showing the 'real' Caley Thistle

Billy Dodds said after the full time whistle was blown against Arbroath last weekend that he was glad the match was over.

Strong winds meant that not much football was able to be played, in strong contrast to how Dodds usually likes to set his team up.

Although early in the season, it is more likely that Caley Jags supporters will be able to see Inverness in full flow against Cove Rangers this weekend, and Dodds is certainly hoping for a more free-flowing game.

"The real Caley Thistle is the way we ended last season," he explained.

"We played good football, we scored goals and had lots of momentum. That's the way I want it, that's the way I try to coach my players.

"We want to play with intensity, pace, technical ability and try to score goals.

"We've got that in our team and we've shown that. I know what we're like, my team are capable of going on a run when we win a game, but we have to get that win first to get us going."
