Inverness Caley Thistle Supporters’ Trust looking to increase membership with open meeting
Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s Supporters Trust is redoubling their efforts to increase membership in order to give more fans a voice in their match day experience as well as the running of the club.
An open day will be held at the Caley Thistle Social Club tomorrow at noon ahead of Caley Thistle’s match against Cove Rangers in something of a re-launch for the trust.
The pandemic has made it difficult to get together and share opinions over the last few years, so as far as new chairwoman Jennifer Aitchison is concerned they now have a blank slate to decide what priorities should be going forward.
“What we do is entirely up to supporters,” Aitchison explained.
“That’s what we’re having the open day for. Obviously there are bits and pieces going on in the background, people have their thoughts on it, but this is an opportunity to come and join us, get involved and get their thoughts out there so that we can get everybody’s views from across the board and not just one or two people who are really vocal about things.
“We want to get a glance right across supporters’ views, but to do that we need to have the membership to be able to reflect that.
“Our membership is increasing every single day at the moment, but we need to keep that momentum going so that we can engage people and see what they think would improve things.
“Then we will hopefully try to deliver those things for them.”
Caley Thistle’s board of directors released a statement supporting the Supporters’ Trust’s bid to increase membership, an important step as the trust looks to get involved with all aspects and areas of the club.
“We do have a 10 per cent voting stake in the club, so obviously we’ve got a ready-made platform there,” Aitchison added.
“That’s worthless if we don’t have the supporters behind us to be able to go to the club and say ‘this is what the supporters believe, this is what they’re interested in.’
“That statement from the club is key to showing that they are behind what we are doing.
“They understand how much of a benefit it is to supporters and the club to have a fully functioning trust.
“We will be involved with the community trust, the women’s team, we’re keen to get involved in all those areas and find opportunities for supporters.
“We will be working with the community trust on some projects, and the women’s team is absolutely massive at the moment.”
