Inverness Caley Thistle seeking new investors or owners – but say it is ‘prudent’ to begin discussions with a qualified insolvency practitioner

Inverness Caledonian Thistle say they are seeking new investment – and potentially new owners.

The Caley Jags have highlighted the loss of their contract with Statkraft, which was estimated to be worth between £1.4 million and £1.7 million to the club, as a reason for them to reconsider their financial situation.

They have not ruled out the possibility of attracting investors, or even someone to buy over the football club.

However, they also say that they are going to engage in talks with an insolvency practitioner to advise on what their options would be if no suitors can be found.

ICT’s statement reads: “The Board of Directors are in discussions with potential new investors into the club and remain hopeful of finding a new investor or new owners.

However, in the circumstances we currently find ourselves in following the loss of the Statkraft contract at Caledonian Stadium which was worth seven figures to the club and given the new financial position of the club, it is also prudent to approach a suitably qualified insolvency practitioner to advise on how we may proceed should our efforts to find new investment fall short.”

Talk of approaching a qualified insolvency practitioner will do nothing to dispel rumours and fears that Caley Thistle could be forced into administration.

The Caley Jags have also confirmed that they will no longer be proceeding with their plan to move first team training to Kelty, instead reverting back to their use of Fort George for next season.
