Draws against Premiership opposition prove Caley Thistle's quality

By Andrew Henderson

Kevin McHattie believes Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s pre-season results against Premiership opposition so far shows what the side will be capable of in the coming season.

Back to back 1-1 draws with Aberdeen and Hearts have given Caley Thistle confidence going into their first competitive match of the season against Peterhead in the Betfred Cup on Tuesday evening.

One more friendly awaits ICT tonight at Grant Street Park though, with the opposition a third top flight side in the form of St Johnstone.

McHattie would not have it any other way than testing themselves against some of the best teams in the country.

“Playing against teams like Hearts, St Johnstone and Aberdeen, they are real tests,” he insisted.

“It’s pre-season as well, so there are new signings for them coming in and trying to show the managers what they can do.

“It’s tough, and I think the boys have done well.

“That’s two draws out of the two games against Premiership teams, which just shows what the boys are capable of.”
