Inverness Caley Thistle defender Nikola Ujdur makes move to Championship outfit Queen’s Park for an undisclosed fee
Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed the departure of defender Nikola Ujdur for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old’s arrival in the Highland capital was a protracted affair, making his debut weeks after signing for the Caley Jags, and his exit to Queen’s Park has faced similar issues.
Ujdur has played no part in any of Caley Thistle’s matches so far this season, but did make 19 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring one goal.
Inverness manager Duncan Ferguson had previously said that the sale of Ujdur would free up funds to potentially strengthen his squad this summer, although it remains to be seen how the new investment at the Caledonian Stadium will change that situation.
Queen’s Park boss Callum Davidson said of the signing: “It has taken a bit of time to get all the paperwork signed however I am delighted that Nikola is here.
“When we knew that Alex Bannon was heading to Burton Albion, we made signing Nikola a priority as, like Alex, he is a very good ball playing defender.
“He has experience of playing in the Championship and that is important as well. He is a fit lad, but he had been training on his own before joining us and is short of game time at the moment.
“It will therefore be a case of getting the balance right between getting him up to the right level fitness and getting him on the pitch.”
Ujdur himself commented: “I have been in and around things for a couple of days now and I am delighted to be joining a good squad of players. The set-up at Lochinch is impressive and I cannot wait to get going.
“I am looking forward to getting established in the team as soon as possible.”
