Inverness Caley Thistle academy graduate Calum MacKay leaves club after making 13 senior appearances

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed the departure of teenager Calum MacKay.

The 19-year-old had been highly rated coming through the club’s youth academy, and broke into the first team picture in late 2022 when Caley Thistle were going through a major injury crisis.

He would make his senior debut as a late substitute against Motherwell in the League Cup group stage, replacing older brother Daniel.

Calum’s first start for the first team would then come in the Challenge Cup against Brechin City in September that year.

After spending last season out on loan at Nairn County in the Highland League, he returned to the Highland capital last summer as one of a group of young players who looked set to play a big role for the club with their financial issues limiting new signings.

However, he has by and large been restricted to late cameo appearances off the bench, last starting for ICT in the League Cup group stage against Arbroath back in July.

In total, he would make 13 appearances for Caley Thistle’s first team.
