Inverness hosts South Highland Athletics Cross Country event as hundreds of school pupils compete at Bught Park
HUNDREDS of primary school pupils were put through their paces at the South Highland Schools Athletics Association Cross Country Event.
Open to schools from across the South Highland region, youngsters competed in a boys and girls race on Thursday morning.
Youngsters completed one lap of Bught Park as they battled against gusty conditions with presentations taking place in the main stand afterwards for the individual and team winners.
In the girls’ race, Kyla Grant from Milton of Leys Primary School powered her way to victory as she claimed gold by a considerable distance.
Mirabelle Tremarco from Milton of Leys put in a terrific performance to claim silver by finishing second.
Ella Milton from Balloch also finished on the podium as she took bronze after finishing in third place.
In the Girls’ team race, Milton of Leys were crowned overall champions.
Crown Primary School were in second place and Holm Primary School took third.
In the boys’ race, it was a close contest between the top three runners with Gregor Cameron from Crown Primary School narrowly coming out on top to claim gold.
Callum Morrison from Lochardil Primary School was close behind as he finished in second place to take silver.
Sebastian Isley from Cawdor Primary School claimed the bronze medal by finishing third.
In the Boys Team Race, Crown Primary School were crowned champions with Lochardil Primary School in second place and Cauldeen taking third.
