Inverness Harriers life member Megan Keith has chance to seal spot at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris at Night of 10,000m PBs in London

Megan Keith is already in a strong position to make the Great Britain squad for this summer’s Olympic Games.

The 22-year-old Inverness Harriers life-member, though, can guarantee her spot in Paris this weekend.

Keith has achieved the Olympic qualifying times in both the 5000m and 10,000m, but with two months before the Games begin there is still time for other athletes to match her achievements.

This Saturday sees the next opportunity for athletes to qualify, at the Night of 10,000m PBs in London.

The event will feature 17 races, with athletes from more than 30 countries competing, and doubles up this year as UK Olympic trials.

That means that the top two British finishers will be going to Paris as long as they have achieved the qualifying time.

Having done that, Keith will secure her place on the plane to Paris as long as she finishes first or second, regardless of what time she crosses the line in.

Keith’s biggest competition will come in the form of Jessica Warner-Judd, who will be looking to retain her British crown but is yet to secure the qualifying standard over 10,000m.

The race will start at 8.30pm on Saturday evening, and is being streamed on the BBC iPlayer.
