Highland take on best amateur team in the country in Scottish Cup quarter final in Inverness

Highland Rugby Club were put through their paces by Marr in pre-season, but captain Stuart MacDonald expects things to be different in the Scottish Cup quarter final at Canal Park.

Marr sit at the top of the Premiership, having failed to win only two of their matches all season, but Highland have coped impressively well with the step up to National One in their own right.

Back in the summer Highland were still putting together their squad ahead of the new campaign, but MacDonald believes they are much stronger now than they would have been able to show then.

“We obviously played them during our pre-season, when we were still quite a mixed squad,” he said.

“We had a lot of new faces as well, and they did a job on us, but it was a really good experience for us.

“I think it will be a different game, we’ve obviously got mid-way through our season as well, and we’ve put out some excellent performances.

“At home, I would back our team against any club in Scotland. When we’re firing on all cylinders, there are very few teams than can cope with the way we play.”
