She has been named as blindside flanker in the starting XV for their clash at Edinburgh at the Hive Stadium at 7.35pm tonight.

MacGilvray is the only player from the Highlands named in the 30-player squad for this season’s competition.

The team’s head coach is Lindsey Smith from Inverness who was appointed this season.

Speaking about the team’s chances in the competition ahead of the game, Smith said: “We’re really excited about the blend of youth and experience we have in our squad, which provides us as a management team with choices when it comes to selection for games.

“Cutting the squad to 30 was challenging, as the players have trained really well across the first three weeks of training which has put the squad in a good place as we head into our first game week of the campaign.”

The Celtic Challenge is a competition featuring six teams from Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

As well as Edinburgh and Glasgow, other teams in the competition include Irish teams Clovers and Wolfhounds and Welsh teams Brython Thunder and Gwalia Lightning.
