Highland League will not start until Saturday, November 28 due to rise of coronavirus cases in Scotland

The Highland League will be delayed until the end of November due to the rise of coronavirus cases in Scotland.

The season was meant to start on Saturday, October 17.

League officials have decided to pause the start of the 2020-21 season in view of the current public health circumstances.

The season will not start before Saturday, November 28 and confirmation of that or an extension of the pause will be considered at a meeting during the week beginning Monday, November 9.

The Highland League season was due to start on Saturday, October 17.

A spokesman for the Highland League said: "The League Management Committee undertook a careful and detailed consideration of the current situation and felt that, all things considered, a pause was the most appropriate course of action."
