Nairn County have appointed Mark Greig as a first team coach.

Greig has returned to the club after a three-and-a-half year absence and joins fellow coaches Brian Macleod and Martin MacDonald who will work under manager Wayne Mackintosh’s team.

Greig originally joined Nairn County in 2017 having previously been an academy coach at Ross County.

He worked at Under-17s, Under-20s, Reserves Team and First Team levels during his first spell at Nairn before returning to again work at Ross County, prior to his time at Nairn St Ninian.

Greig was part of the coaching team at North Region Championship club Nairn St Ninian last season, signing off by narrowly missing out on lifting the Dominos Regional Clup final as the Saints went down 2-1 to Culter at Burghead on Saturday.

Speaking on Nairn County social media, Greig says that he is looking forward to a new challenge at Station Park.

He said: "I had already made up my mind a couple of months ago to step down from my role at Nairn St Ninian and I was prepared to take some time out to consider what the next challenge might be.

"I did not expect it to come along so quickly but when Toshy got in touch, I took some time to think it over, spoke to a few people and decided that another shot at coaching in the Highland League was an opportunity I could not pass up.

"I already know Bobo (Martin MacDonald), Brian and many others at the club and I feel confident we can work well together to support Toshy. I am excited to get started.

"I want to thank Stuart Finnie and the committee at Nairn St Ninian for the opportunity last season. Their support and belief in me meant a great deal and I truly appreciate it.

"I feel I have some unfinished business here, so it is fantastic to be back."

Nairn County have tied up deal to keep players at the club next season including Andrew Greig and Dylan Maclean.

Mackintosh was delighted to add Greig to his coaching team as he continues preparations for the new season.

He said: "I am really pleased to now have Mark on board. He is really well organised and is meticulous in his preparation for training sessions and for games.

"When I heard that he was going to be leaving Nairn St Ninian at the end of the season, I had a chat with him and things grew from there. We were aligned in how we see the squad developing and progressing and I feel that he will be a really good fit.

"Mark along with Bobo and Brian each bring different strengths to the table when it comes to training sessions and match day - between the four of us we will each have our own areas we will look after. I feel there will be a really good dynamic between us and I am looking forward to working with Mark as part of the team."
