Lossiemouth Football Club appoint coach Steve Porter as new manager following departure of former Elgin City boss Gavin Price as interim manager

Lossiemouth have appointed former Elgin City coach Steve Porter as their new manager.

Porter has been working as first team coach and part of an interim management team since joining the Grant Park side from Elgin earlier this year.

He will work with ex-Coasters player and manager and fellow former City coach Stevie Dunn as his assistant boss.

Porter becomes the Moray coast club’s fourth manager this year.

Frank McGettrick stepped down at the end of last season for health reasons, and his successor Eddie Wolecki-Black started the current campaign but lasted just seven matches before stepping down.

Former Elgin manager Gavin Price took over the reins for a short spell, linking up with Porter and Dunn who were part of his coaching staff at Borough Briggs.

But Price’s time at Lossie was always intended to be a stop-gap, and he officially left the Coasters last week with Dunn, Porter and former manager Ian Campbell taking charge for Saturday’s league match at Buckie Thistle.

A Lossiemouth statement on Porter’s appointment read: “Steve joined the club’s coaching staff in the summer having spent 20 years coaching at Elgin City’s youth set-up and has now taken up the role as first team manager.

“Steve will be assisted by Stevie Dunn and will also look to add another coach to the coaching staff.”

His appointment comes as former Nairn County manager Ronnie Sharp was appointed as the new boss of Rothes earlier this week.
