FIN Graham claimed his first medal of the Paralympic Games as he claimed silver in the Men’s C3 3000 metres Individual Pursuit.

The 24-year-old reached the gold medal race at the velodrome in Paris as he finished runner-up in the event to defending champion Jaco Van Gass.

In a repeat of the Paralympic final three years ago in Tokyo, Graham finished the final in a time of three minutes 22.540 seconds.

Van Gass successfully regained his gold medal in the event, winning in a time of 3:18.460.

Earlier in the day in qualifying, Graham broke the world record in the C3 3000 metres individual pursuit to reach the gold medal race.

He set a new world record of three minutes and 17.14 seconds during his heat earlier this afternoon.

But he only held the world record for a matter of minutes as Jaco Van Gass of Great Britain regained his world record in the following heat in a time of 3:15.488.

Graham will compete in two more events at the Paralympics next week.

He will compete in the Men’s C3 Individual Time Trial on Wednesday, September 4 and the Men’s C3 Road Race on Saturday, September 7.
