Dave Carson says the pressure is off Highland when they host Musselburgh in the National League Cup this weekend.

Highland will need to get past National One opposition at Canal Park if they are to make it to the final.

That puts Carson’s side as the natural underdogs.

“This week, everyone is expecting Musselburgh – although they have slipped up in the last three or four weeks – to come up with a really strong side,” Carson insisted.

“Obviously playing in the division above they will be that bit quicker and bigger than we’re used to.

“On our own pitch, with our own crowd, you never know what will happen.

“I’m quite confident, we’ve beaten Cartha Queens Park, we’ve beaten Aberdeen Grammar in the past, we’ve played teams above and we’ve beaten them before.

“So we’ll be going into it with confidence and knowing that it will be a really tough game, but confident that we can do a job.”
