HEAD coach Scott Kellacher spoke about the anger of his players that Inverness Caledonian Thistle failed to beat Kelty Hearts on Saturday afternoon.

Inverness were held to a 1-1 draw by Kelty as Luis Longstaff gave the hosts the lead after three minutes, but Ross Cunningham leveled with a free kick in the 14th minute.

Neither side were able to find a winner as Inverness had to settle for a share of the points as they remain on only two league wins this season.

Kellacher, who was appointed head coach after former manager Duncan Ferguson was made redundant as a result of administration says his players were angry and frustrated that they were unable to secure a victory at the Caledonian Stadium.

Speaking about the dressing room at full time, Kellacher said: “We are all frustrated down there and that is the good thing.

“They are angry from it as they know they should have won that game. But they need to be as positive as they can.

“I am always going to be upbeat and positive, but I was frustrated in some parts of the game.

“Their heads were down, but they were down as they felt it was a game they should have won today.

“With the amount of possession and chances and getting in the final third, we had big moments to keep the pressure on them. But we did not get that second goal.”

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are now 14 points off Dumbarton in ninth, as they are now on -2. Dumbarton lost 3-0 today to Cove Rangers, who Inverness face in Aberdeen next weekend.

Kellacher says there is plenty of time to make up the deficit with 24 games left in the regular season. But they know they can’t afford to pass up opportunities to win the game like they did.

He said: “We can’t afford the draws, the draws mean nothing. I made the point of throwing Ethan Cairns on and it is important to have another striker on the pitch to give us another chance.

“There are positives and frustrations but we will look forward, there are a lot of points to play for but we do need to win games of football.”

Speaking about Caley Thistle’s performance, Kellacher said: “I thought we dominated the game as that is the frustrating part as it is a game we should have won if we took our chances.

“Their goalkeeper made a great save, we hit the post, we felt in the final third that there was the wrong choice of pass which is frustrating.

“Overall, I am really positive about the performance. The boys are gutted as they know these are the games we need to be winning.”

Kellacher praised the attendance of 1502 at the stadium today, and was disappointed they couldn’t give them a win.

He said: “The crowd played a massive part in getting behind us, they were on the edge of their seats as they thought something was going to come. Unfortunately it didn’t, we need to put the ball in the back of the net and win these games.”
