Inverness Caley Thistle head coach Scott Kellacher pleased with debut performances from Alfie Bavidge and Alfie Stewart as they arrive from Aberdeen

HEAD coach Scott Kellacher says Alfie Bavidge and Alfie Stewart will both make a big impact for Inverness Caledonian Thistle after they arrived on loan from Aberdeen.

Both Bavidge and Stewart made their debuts for Inverness Caledonian Thistle today after they signed from Aberdeen on loan deals for the rest of the season.

Striker Bavidge scored in the first half and midfielder Stewart came on in the second half as Inverness defeated Dumbarton 2-0 to move six points clear of bottom spot in League One.

Bavidge was also named man of the match in the victory on Saturday afternoon.

Kellacher says he was pleased with the performances of both his new signings. He believes they can both help Inverness pick up positive results during the second half of the campaign.

Speaking about their signings, Kellacher said: “Our boys needed a bit of help, as it is a really young squad and even younger on the bench.

“Aberdeen have been great in helping us by giving us the two Alfies. They are very good players and will bring a lot to the squad.”

Speaking about Bavidge, Kellacher said: “Alfie Bavidge will be among the goals, he is wanting to score goals which is the good thing.

“He gets himself into good areas and he was man of the match and deserved it. He worked hard on the ball.”

Speaking about Stewart, Kellacher said: “Alfie Stewart is a good footballer, he will bring good things.

“He is comfortable on the ball, he likes to make those passes.

“The two of them coming in I am over the moon. Hopefully they will enjoy it here and go back to Aberdeen better players.

“We will try to help them as much as we can and at the same time they can help us.”

The 2-0 win over Dumbarton has moved Inverness six points clear of bottom and moved them to within seven points of Annan Athletic in eighth, with the two teams set to meet at Galabank next week.

Kellacher was pleased with the manner of Caley Thistle’s victory and the way they responded to losing 4-1 against Cove Rangers seven days previously.

He said: “I thought we started the game bright and controlled most of the game.

“The only time they looked dangerous was from a poor pass from us. They didn’t carve us open so credit to the boys massively this week as we knew how hard it was going to be after last week.

“We had a good week under our belt. We will have blips along the way, but it is important everyone sticks together. We put last week to bed and knew what to do better and they turned up with the right attitude. They managed the game well so I am over the moon as it was a big game today.”
