Inverness Harriers trio Lucas Cairns, Megan Keith and Mhairi Maclennan will represent Scotland at the Home Countries Cross Country International and Celtic Cross Country International.

Maclennan (24) will lead the Scottish women’s team in the senior event tomorrow which will compete in the Home Countries championship against England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The event represents a comeback for Maclennan who had been suffering from bronchitis which affected her for four months.

She did have a successful second place in a short cross country race in Northern Ireland in the autumn, but she was forced to drop out of the Great Britain trials for the European Championships and tomorrow represents her return to competition after recovering from illness.

Meanwhile Millburn Academy pupil Keith (17) will be competing at under-20 level after taking a short break after competing for Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships in Lisbon last month.

Fortrose athlete Cairns (15) is looking to be in the running for more Scotland vests in the future when he competes at the Celtic Cross Country International at under-17 level.
