Growth opens up new doors for table tennis club

Highland Table Tennis club are moving premises because of how quickly the club has grown.

Weekly sessions at Inverness High School only began at the end of September, but interest in the game has meant sessions will be moved to Merkinch Community Centre from April 23.

Table Tennis Scotland have even donated nine new tables to the club. Scotland national team coach Stephen Gertsen founded the group, but even he was slightly taken aback by the rapid progress it has made on Tuesday evenings.

“Considering we haven’t done a lot of advertising, I’ve been surprised by how many people have come,” Gertsen explained.

“It’s just word of mouth, which shows people are keen to try a new sport."
