GOLF - Champion claims Nairn Ladies Open title by one shot
CARINNE Taylor came out on top to be crowned winner of the Nairn Ladies Open which took place at Nairn Golf Club on Saturday.
The Nairn Golf Club member, who was Nairn Golf Club Ladies champion in 2024, proved too good for the rest of the field as she claimed the trophy by one shot with a winning score of 72.
She edged out Kerri Harper who claimed runners-up spot with a score of 73.
Karen Marshall from Baberton claimed third place in the tournament as she scored a 77.
It rounded off a tremendous week for Taylor who was also called up for the Scottish Golf North Squad for the Inter County Jamboree which takes place on Saturday.
She is one of three golfers from clubs in Nairn to be included in the nine-woman squad which will compete at Edzell for three days between Saturday and Monday.
Also included in the squad is fellow Nairn Golf Club member Sammy Fotheringham and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club member Iona Reid.
Jenny Milne from Elgin will captain the squad with the other five members including Caitlin Boa and Cara Thompson from Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Laura Durrand from Thurso, Ellie Docherty from Moray Golf Club and Eleanor Tunn from Reay Golf Club.
North play Angus on Saturday, Perth and Kinross on Sunday and Aberdeenshire on Monday with foursomes each morning and singles taking place each afternoon.
In the other competitions at the Nairn Ladies Open, Louise Clark from Nairn Dunbar Golf Club took the Division One title with a score of 69.
She won the competition by one shot as Katie Miller from Ashbury in second place with 70 and Eve Ironside from Kemnay taking third place with 71 and Lisa Miller fourth with 72.
In the Division Two Scratch competition Suzie Abbott, claimed the title with 93. In the Division Two Handicap title, Jean Falchney claimed the title with a score of 72.
Susan Mackenzie from Elgin claimed second place with a better inward half after being tied with Susan Davies on 74 who finished third.
