Goalkeeper confirms he is leaving Caley Thistle after almost two decades at club
GOALKEEPER Cammy Mackay has announced that he is leaving Inverness Caledonian Thistle after almost two decades at the club.
The 27-year-old has confirmed that he will leave Caley Thistle following the expiration of his contract after 19 years at Inverness.
Confirming his departure on social media, Mackay says it was a hard decision, but feels it is the right time to move on.
He wrote on social media: “After 19 years at Caley Thistle I’ve taken the difficult decision to move on following my contract expiring.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision for me to make but I feel now that the time is right to move on. As everyone knows football is a short career and now I feel it’s time for me to go out there and get game time.
“I feel incredibly lucky to be apart of some fantastic memories, from making my debut at Celtic Park when I was 18 to six days later lifting the Scottish Cup. These memories will live with me forever and I am forever grateful for that.
“As a player and a supporter I’m absolutely gutted at how the season ended and I wish the club all the best for the future and I hope that they can bounce straight back up next season into the championship.
“Thank you for the memories.”
The former Culloden Academy pupil came through the Inverness Caledonian Thistle youth system and spent time on loan at clubs such as Clachnacuddin, Elgin City, Brora Rangers and Rothes.
He played 38 times for Inverness during his career and was in the squad which won the 2015 Scottish Cup.
