Glenurquhart's all-conquering women’s shinty team swept the boards at the Marine Harvest National Shinty Awards – landing Division Two team, player and coach of the year honours.

With a league and Challenge Cup double behind them, the proud hat trick came at the close of a remarkable campaign.

Just three years into their existence, the Drumnadrochit outfit outstripped all expectations by tallying up 13 victories and only one defeat en-route to the league title.

Coaches Billy Maclean and Jim Barr, along with top player Siobhan Thomson, earned special recognition at the Drumossie Hotel event in Inverness, but all agreed it had been a phenomenal team effort.

Maclean, who previously managed the men’s team for six years in two spells, said: “The girls were very deserving of team of the year and Siobhan getting player of the year was an added bonus."
