Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed the signing of Michael Gardyne on a one-year deal.

Although he came through Celtic's youth system and has played for Greenock Morton, Dundee United and Kilmarnock, the 35-year-old is most notably associated with Caley Thistle's Highland rivals Ross County where he made 444 appearances across four spells in Dingwall, becoming the club's all-time record appearance maker.

He also holds the distinction of being the Staggies' record goalscorer, finding the net 73 times.

Gardyne was among 10 players released by County at the end of last season though, and has made the move across the Kessock Bridge to the Highland capital.

Head Coach Billy Dodds said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Michael has joined us.

“I worked with Michael at Ross County for three years, so I know what he brings.

"There were a number of clubs trying to get Michael to sign on his departure from our neighbours and at least two of those are competitors of ours so I am doubly pleased he is here now.

“He’s great in the dressing room and is a player that brings quality and experience to the squad.”
