Future of out of contract players at Inverness Caley Thistle remains uncertain
INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle have yet to confirm the status of any players who are out of contract with their first pre-season match scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Caley Thistle are scheduled to take on Highland League outfit Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park at noon on Saturday in their first friendly of the 2024/25 campaign.
It was reported Inverness did do their first training session at Fort George on Monday.
However, the future of a number of players whose contracts run out at the end of the season have not been confirmed.
It is believed only seven senior players have a contract which extends beyond the end of last season, who included Adam Brooks, Jake Davidson, Danny Devine, Charlie Gilmour, Luis Longstaff, Lewis Nicolson and Nikola Ujdur.
Some players have left the club, with defender Cameron Harper signing for Carlisle United and goalkeeper Cammy Mackay joining Brora Rangers. Wallace Duffy confirmed that he left the club with Aaron Doran also confirming on social media that he is no longer a player at Inverness.
It was also confirmed on Monday night that Nathan Shaw has signed for Greenock Morton.
The future of a number of players has still to be confirmed, believed to include Harry Lodovica, Roddy MacGregor, Mark Ridgers and Austin Samuels.
The Inverness Courier asked Inverness Caledonian Thistle for an update on players out of contract, but received no response at the time of going to press on Monday.
Doran announced on social media on Friday that he received confirmation that he would not be receiving a new deal, before undergoing a knee operation, which he claimed the club had cancelled twice and had no paid for.
A fundraiser organised by former teammate Shane Sutherland, helped raise £10,000 for him to undergo the knee operation.
Doran blasted the club on social media, claiming they showed him no duty of care for his injury or the way he left the club.
He wrote: I received my p45 in an email while awaiting surgery yesterday, this being the only time that the club has contacted me.
“Surgery in which the club said they would pay for but didn’t and then allowed the public, fellow players/managers and fans to pay for. They have shown me no duty of care for an injury which happened playing for them on live TV and have not spoken to me once or any other out of contract player. Iv not even been offered rehab.
“Personally, I find it disgraceful and unacceptable and this should never be allowed to happen.”
Despite the way his career ended at Inverness, Doran wrote he looked back at his time at Inverness with pride.
He wrote: “I came here as a 19-year-old kid and I’m now a 33-year-old man with a family living in the Highlands.
We have won the Scottish cup, played in Europe and finished in the top six multiple times. I’m very proud to have played 393 games for the club. I want to thank all the fans for your support over the 14years and hope you get more of those days in the near future.”
