Forres match showed Clachnacuddin have improved, says manager Sandy McLeod

CLACHNACUDDIN manager Sandy McLeod is confident they can head back from Lossiemouth with a win if they can repeat their performance against Forres Mechanics last week.

The Lilywhites suffered a 3–2 defeat against the Can-Cans at Canal Park on Friday night.

But it was a much improved performance compared to the club’s previous two defeats against Fort William and Turriff United.

Clachnacuddin have failed to win their last seven matches with their last victory at Keith on November 30

The Lilywhites are three points ahead of Lossiemouth in the table, but have a better goal difference of 31 with the Coasters having the worst defensive record in the league conceding 78 goals.

McLeod says his team showed fight against Forres and wants to bring that to Grant Park.

“If we perform like that again then hopefully we can win a few games,” he said.

“The performance was night and day from the previous two games.”

But he said his team were guilty of shooting themselves in the foot after conceding the lead and then eventually losing to Forres.

He said: “We went 1–0 up and lost a goal 30 seconds later.

“That should not happen with the experience we have at the back and it was disappointing.

“We had a good chance but we shot ourselves in the foot. It was disappointing losing the third goal.

“We weren’t set up the way we should have been and we made it too easy for them to score.”

Clach will be without Scott Graham on Saturday.

The striker was sent off late in the game against Forres after he received a straight red card for a challenge on James Ross.

McLeod thought the straight red card was a heavy punishment for Graham to receive.

“I thought it was harsh to get a straight red card,” said McLeod.

“That is the second week in a row it has happened.”
