Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Shaun Rooney signs for English League One outfit Fleetwood Town





Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Shaun Rooney has left St Johnstone and signed for English League One outfit Fleetwood Town.

The 25-year-old full back who signed for St Johnstone from Inverness in 2020, moved south to sign for Fleetwood, who narrowly avoided relegation this season. Fleetwood Town are managed by former Celtic captain Scott Brown.

Rooney played his last game for St Johnstone in the 4–0 win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Premiership Play-Off second leg on Monday night.

Rooney played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle between 2018 and 2020 after he arrived from Queen of the South.

He scored the winning goals for St Johnstone in the League Cup final and Scottish Cup final in the 2020/2021 campaign.
