Avoch footballer Rachel McLauchlan signs for Women’s Super League outfit Brighton as Rangers’ Scottish Cup hero tries hand at England’s top tier
An Avoch footballer will be playing in the Women’s Super League next season.
Rachel McLauchlan brought a three-year spell at Rangers to a close last month, having signed off in spectacular fashion with a long-range effort that helped the Glasgow giants win last season’s Scottish Cup.
Having previously turned out for Glasgow City, Hibernian, Aberdeen and Inverness City, the 27-year-old has decided to give the top tier in England a try.
She has been confirmed as a Brighton and Hove Albion player ahead of the 2024/25 WSL campaign.
Seagulls’ managing director of women’s and girls’ football Zoe Johnson said: “We’re delighted to welcome Rachel to the club. She’s an experienced player who’s competed in cup finals and the Champions League, as well as on the international stage for Scotland.
“She’s developed her career in the last few seasons with Rangers and we’re looking forward to seeing her thrive in the WSL.”
McLauchlan has also become a regular in the Scotland set-up, earning 26 caps since making her international debut in 2016.
