The 35-year-old has returned to the Caledonian Stadium 18 months after he last played for the club.

Speaking about returning to Inverness, Wotherspoon said: “I’m delighted to be back, I’ve had some great times up here even if it was only for three months. I know the Manager and Billy from the time I was last here so I’m looking forward to working with them and the boys that are here.”

Wotherspoon signed a short-term deal with Inverness in October 2023 in what was former manager Duncan Ferguson’s first signing for the club.

He became a fans favourite during his time with Inverness, scoring four goals in 10 appearances. He left the club in January 2024 after turning down a contract to remain at the club.

Wotherspoon went on to sign for Dundee United who won the Championship that season and were promoted to the Premiership.

He left Dundee United to join Dunfermline Athletic last season when he helped the Pars to seventh place in the Championship.

He left Dunfermline Athletic at the end of last season and is reported to have been on an SFA coaching course.

During his career, Wotherspoon, who was born in Perth, also made 13 international appearances for Canada, qualifying to play for them through his mother.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have already made a number of signings since coming out of administration following their success with a company voluntary arrangement.

Among the new additions to the squad include goalkeepers Ross Munro and Logan Ross along with full back Ross Millen and midfielder Joe Chalmers.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are set to play two friendlies tomorrow night against Highland League opposition.

They will face Nairn County at Station Park and Rothes at Mackessack Park with kick-offs at 7.30pm.
