Bournemouth give major award to former Inverness Caledonian Thistle player at end of English Premiership season
FORMER Inverness Caledonian Thistle player Ryan Christie has received a major award with English Premiership club Bournemouth.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder was named Supporters’ Player of the Year at the club on the final day of the English Premiership season.
Christie, who has been with the Cherries for four years since signing in 2021, played 33 matches for Bournemouth this season and helped them reach ninth place in the English Premiership.
The club released a statement on why Christie received the award saying: “A heartbeat in the Cherries’ midfield, Ryan Christie was a model of consistency, determination and quality across the campaign.
“The Scottish international featured in 33 matches scoring crucial goals against Arsenal and Southampton, and making countless key interventions in both boxes.
“Christie’s tireless work rate, leadership and passion made him a standout among supporters, who voted him the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Season.
“His performances were instrumental as the side delivered a series of memorable results, including a record run of wins over the winter period.”
Christie is a product of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle youth system, where he signed his first professional contract with the club in 2011.
He spent three years at the club in total playing 63 matches and was also part of the 2015 Scottish Cup winning team beating Falkirk 2-1.
He spent six years with Celtic, which included one season on loan with Aberdeen between 2015 and 2021.
He joined Bournemouth in 2021 for a fee reported to be worth £1.5 million.
He has also represented Scotland 59 times during his career, scoring seven goals and was in the squads for Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
