Goalkeeper Jack Newman joins Livingston on loan from Dundee United after spell at Inverness Caley Thistle cut short due to Highland outfit’s administration
Former Inverness Caledonian Thistle goalkeeper Jack Newman is on the move again.
The 22-year-old spent the early part of the campaign in the Highland capital on loan from Dundee United, one of the few senior signings ICT made last summer due to their financial constraints.
Newman had previously spent time at Spartans and Peterhead after coming through the Sunderland youth academy, and has represented Scotland from under-15 level through to the under-21s.
He would start the season as first choice goalkeeper for Inverness, but lost his place to Musa Dibaga as a result of injury and could never reclaim his position in the starting 11.
When Caley Thistle officially entered administration towards the end of October, then, Newman was one of five players to leave the club as part of their cost-cutting measures.
In the end he would make seven appearances across all competitions for the Caley Jags.
He returned to Dundee United, but has now gone back out on loan, signing for Championship outfit Livingston until the end of the season.
Ironically, his final Inverness appearance came in the Challenge Cup against Livingston, who sit seven points behind leaders Falkirk in the standings and take on Airdrie tomorrow night where Newman could make his debut.
