Former Caley Thistle defender says it is about time youngsters get chance

Former Inverness Caley Thistle defender Ross Tokely says young talent deserves to get the chance to shine at the club.

The Nairn County manager says he is pleased that young players is set to be given a chance this season at Caley Thistle.

Caley Thistle are set to take on Nairn County on Tuesday night in a friendly match at Station Park with kick-off at 7.30pm.

Inverness started their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park.

Manager Duncan Ferguson said on Saturday that the squad which featured on Saturday is likely to be the one he will be using for the League One campaign.

He says he will be relying heavily on using players who come through the club’s youth academy.

Tokely holds the record for the most appearances at Inverness Caledonian Thistle with 589 appearances between 1996 and 2012.

Tokely, knows many of the youngsters now in the Caley Thistle first team, from working as a youth coach at the club.

He said it is about the time they have been given the chance to show what they can do.

He said: "It is really good the young lads at Caley Thistle are getting a chance now.

"It's about time, to be honest. They have some really talented young players.

"I look forward to seeing them play and it would be nice to get another good crowd out on Tuesday."
