Football matches called off this weekend due to expected severe weather conditions

Football matches across the north of Scotland have been called off due to severe weather conditions which are expected this weekend.

The Football Times Cup final between Alness United and Inverness Athletic, which was due to take place at Golspie tomorrow has been called off due to expected weather conditions.

In addition, all matches in the North Caledonian League have been postponed.

The North Region Junior Football Association have confirmed they have cancelled all of their matches which were due to take place this weekend.

This includes the North Region Championship match between Nairn St Ninian and Deveronside at Macduff.

So far, SPFL matches in the Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two remain on.

This includes Ross County’s clash with Motherwell in Dingwall and Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s trip to Dumfries to face Queen of the South.

In the Highland League, Clachnacuddin’s match against Lossiemouth at Grant Street Park and Nairn County’s game against Buckie Thistle has been postponed due to frozen pitches.

Some Highland League matches have also been called off including Forres Mechanics v Rothes, Fraserburgh v Wick Academy, Strathspey Thistle v Huntly and Turriff United v Brora Rangers.
