Highland Rugby Club head coach Dave Carson hopes that the current festive break will give four of his top stars the chance to recover from injury and fight their way back into the starting 15.

The Greens have another nine days before they are back in National One action down in Edinburgh at Heriot’s Blues.

A full training session on Saturday will welcome the team into 2020, and Carson says long-term absentees could be making their case.

“We hope that Iain Chisholm, Hugo Crush, Andrew Findlater – we haven’t seen him since September – and Rob Eatough, hopefully those four will come back in,” Carson said.

“They’ve all been training. It’s just a case of getting some contact skills in for them to see how they react. They all look like they’re going to be fit come Heriots.

“I was saying to the coaches that we might have a full team to select from for the first time this year, but something will probably happen before then!

“It would be great to have all these guys back, and it would push everyone else on at training because they want to keep their starting spot.”
