Off-field worries will not affect on-pitch ambition at Caley Thistle

Manager John Robertson says the financial challenges facing Inverness Caledonian Thistle have no bearing on its ambitions to return to the Premiership next season.

The club have announced it will be holding an EGM on Thursday, October 3 with shareholders to explain the situation at the club and discuss proposals and other options to raise new finance.

The club said each year it has been in the championship has resulted in around £800,000 losses on the basis it continued to pursue its mission of being a community centric club, while retaining its youth and community development programmes.

At the end of the 2017/18 financial year, Inverness Caledonian Thistle recorded a loss of £810,000.

The loss was attributed to reduced league and cup dividends, lack of TV money, lower season ticket sales, smaller home crowds and fewer away supporters.

Robertson, who was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame yesterday, said it was a difficult situation but whatever the financial footing the club is in, their priority remains to play at the top level.

“We shouldn’t need an incentive to get back to the top league,” he said.
